Your Guildford
Your Guildford was a flagship feature of the 2010 re-launch of the Guildford Borough Council website. This on-going development has launched to the public and allows consolidates a number of pieces of information on a single page for Guildford residents. After entering their post code to find a property, visitors can view information such as the dates of their next refuse and recycling collections, past planning applications and current councillors.
This application consolidates information from a number of different internal databases and systems at Guildford Borough Council by UPRN.
Refuse & Recycling Reminders
An initiative called Recycling Works was launched by Guildford Borough Council in 2009 which brought about a big change to the refuse collections of Guildford residents. A reminders system was required to send a text message to subscribers the night before a collection to remind them which bin(s) should be placed at the kerbside. The system is also used to alert residents when there are exceptions to the normal collection routine such as bank holidays and snow days.
To send SMS text messages the application interfaces with the iTex system of Kirklees Council via a .NET Web Service.
SMS Alerts
This soon to be launched service will allow residents and visitors to sign up for SMS text message alerts from the council about a number of different topics. Examples include entertainment - allowing people to receive alerts about upcoming performances at the Electric Theatre.
This system also makes use of iTex.
